Bob Kay

Robert "Bob" Kay, born in Dodge City, Kansas was the son of Richard and Marion (Jennings) Kay. Bob graduated from the University of Kansas in 1955, with a degree in engineering.

Following college Bob went to work for Standard Oil of Indiana. Bob had a wonderful career in the Oil industry mostly in the research automotive division. At the age of 55, Bob retired and pursued his many hobbies and passions. He was a life master bridge player, an author of nine books and an advanced collector of breweriana.

His eight volumes of US beer labels, authored by Bob with many other contributors, became the breweriana community's definitive guide to early beer labels, from pre-prohibition through 1950. Many of these were in Bob's own collection, which were scanned and published in the eight volume set.

Bob is survived by his wife Marilou Kay of Batavia, IL and their son, Forrest Kay, who continue to provide the beer label collector resource that is Bob's legacy.
